We seek a highly skilled and dynamic executive to join our finance leadership team as our European Controller. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting across our UK and European operations, reporting to the Global Corporate Controller. Leading a team of professionals, you will be responsible for managing all financial reporting elements for EMEA entities and branches, as well as day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring all financial information's accuracy, integrity, and timeliness. You will also help develop and manage our internal control standards and practices in coordination with our various operating departments. 

As the senior member of our corporate services leadership team based in the EU, you will be a pivotal contributor to the success of corporate and lines of business operations. You will work closely with our business leaders to set strategy, inform decision-making, and impact outcomes across a range of business initiatives to ensure that strategy and execution are aligned.

What You Will Do (Core Responsibilities)

  • Leadership and Team Development:
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals.Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.Promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing across teams.
  • European Accounting Operations:
  • Oversee financial accounting for European subsidiaries.Ensure consistent accounting practices and compliance with local standards.Manage intercompany transactions and regulatory reporting (financial accounts, VAT, etc.).
  • Financial Integrity and Compliance:
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information.Meet internal and external reporting deadlines.Coordinate with Global Tax function for corporate tax reporting.
  • Internal Controls:
  • Establish and maintain robust internal control policies.Monitor and improve internal control systems to prevent fraud and optimize efficiency.
  • Payroll Management:
  • Oversee European payroll operations.Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with local regulations.Manage tax withholdings and filings.
  • Process Optimisation:
  • Drive initiatives to automate and optimize accounting operations.Enhance the efficiency of monthly/quarterly close cycles.Improve accuracy through streamlined processes.
  • Employee Development:
  • Coach and develop the accounting team.Promote job satisfaction and engagement through effective leadership.

  • Disciplined, detailed and organised with an analytical approach and attention to detail. 

What You Need (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. 
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance. 
  • Experience with managing European accounting operations, including month and year-end closes. 
  • Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and filings. 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading finance teams, implementing internal controls, and driving process improvements. 
  • Demonstrated success in leading change management. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required. 
  • Progressive substantive experience in finance and accounting leadership roles. 
  • Experience with publicly listed companies. 

What would be nice (preferred skills & experience):

  • CPA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
  • Software / SAAS / Technology industry experience. 
  • Strong understanding of software industry business models, including SaaS and term licenses.
